Sonja Lyubomirsky (2008), in her book “ The How of Happiness”, states that happiness is “ the experience of joy, contentment, or positive wellbeing, combined with a sense that one’s life is good, meaningful, and worthwhile” (p.32). Words like joy, satisfaction, and laughter are often times used in relation to happiness. According to the dictionary, happiness is “ a state of wellbeing and contentment” (Merriam-Webster, 2018). Despite its increasing popularity, we still often find ourselves asking “what exactly is happiness?” Happiness continues to gain more and more attention as topics such as wellbeing and mental health become more popular.Ĭompanies all over the globe have started investing in workshops and learning sessions to help their employees become happier.
